Cindy O'Dell
Cindy O’Dell is a Professor of Art at DePauw University, and has been telling stories with the camera for two decades. In 2005 she completed a month long artist residency at the Burren College of Art in Western Ireland where she was also a guest lecturer. She has taught photography workshops since 1990 throughout the USA. Her technical expertise covers photographic formats including non-silver processes, digital, mixed media and video. O’Dell has traveled extensively and has always been fascinated by the discovery made possible by a camera and the moments when people and the land intersect. She loves teaching in a variety of environments and is able to reach and communicate with all types of photographers. Cindy finds teaching a magical experience and is always fascinated by watching her students grow into their own.
Cindy’s 20 solo exhibitions include the Pfizer Headquarters and the Viewing Room Gallery in New York. She has also exhibited in over 40 invitational exhibitions throughout the United States. Her exhibit common threads consists of photographic quilts depicting the lives of women living with breast cancer; it was awarded best of show by Hollis Sigler in the exhibition, A Shared Journey: Confronting Cancer Through Art.
