Testimonial

Brenda Tharp immediately made my short list of future photography mentors. She has proven to be so much more than just a professional photographer. Watching her begin and end each day making sure each of us was personally and photographically content, showed a side of this professional woman that most individuals are not privileged to see."

Given the time traveling and hours spent in the field, formal instruction can be difficult. The sessions that we did have during down time, were AMAZING. Brenda was even able to allow some of the participants to impart information from their perspective. I believe we as a group developed respect for her and one another during this process."

A note from Brenda ~
With any adventure, the goal for most of us is to bring home images that capture both our experiences, and the spirit of place - its scenic beauty, its architecture, and its culture. While we have an itinerary for the tour, we will also make unscheduled stops for discoveries along the way, with an eye for the group's interests. We will plan to be out for early and late light when weather and schedules permit.

While not at the same level as a photography workshop, I always offer guidance and some instruction on my tours. I am available to answer questions and provide photographic advice to the group, and will help individually if asked. During the trip, I will offer two slide presentations, and will also critique a small portfolio of work upon request from any participant. I welcome photographers of all experience levels, as the emphasis is on seeing creatively. Film and digital photographers are both welcome, and all formats are acceptable, although emphasis will be on 35mm and medium format. My personal focus is mainly color photography, but black and white film is totally acceptable for those that wish to bring/use it.Participants should have a basic working knowledge of their camera gear, be in reasonably good physical condition, and come with an open and flexible mind.
